What Is Individual Health & Dental Insurance?

These are policies that help you cover out of pocket expenses not covered by a provincial health care plan. These contain, but are not limited to, prescription drugs, practitioner services, medical devices and dental care.

Each province has a medical health plan which varies, province to province. OHIP covers drugs when administered during a hospital stay, however does not cover drugs outside of the hospital. OHIP also has a dental plan for Ontarians ages 17 and under. Ontario does have a drug program called Trillium which helps those in need of assistance with their prescriptions.

British Columbia Medicare Protection has a dental program for people under the age of 19, or on assisted income.

Alberta Health Care also has coverage for dental treatment services.
